Cloned volumes inherit the encryption state of their parent. The encryption state of a volume is established when the volume is created, and cannot be changed afterward. The master key protects the keys that are used to encrypt volume data. Before you can create encrypted volumes, you must perform an initialization step that creates the master key. You can enable encryption at the group level or volume level as required for each group of Nimble Storage arrays in your environment. Security in an HPE Nimble Storage group of arrays includes several features, including role-based access control for user accounts, encryption of data at rest, secure socket layer (SSL) certificates, and secure SMTP. Nimble Storage arrays provide, accelerated performance for higher throughput or I/Os per second and sub-millisecond latencies, higher storage efficiency, non-disruptive scaling to fit changing application needs, maximized data, and storage availability with integrated data protection and disaster recovery. HPE Nimble Storage arrays take advantage of multi-core processors to provide high-speed in-line variable-block compression without introducing noticeable latency. Data written to the array is compressed and then stored in the disk-drive layer.
